      • I hope those seats got a bloody good cleaning! Im not quite old enough to remember the dirty old men but I went there a few times over the years. First time was to see reservoir dogs, because it wasn’t on general release.

I found a blog yesterday re the cinema- the writer said she’d been a part of raiding parties of feminist activists who would turn up and force their way in and basically bollock the patrons for being pervy. Closed in 1981 apparently.

          • Off the top of my head it reopened about 1990 as the cornerhouse. Could be they just shut the doors in 1981 and just left the banners up for the dirty films. 1980s Manchester city centre just didn’t care about appearances. There seemed loads of wrecked and boarded up places.

The walk back to Victoria after a gig at the university could be like walking though a ghost town sometimes.
