These fascinating photos show street scenes, landmarks, and everyday life in Poland in 1970. It was the time when polish people were protesting against the sudden increase in prices of food and other everyday items. Gomułka’s government signed a treaty with West Germany that involved a recognition of the Oder-Neisse border.
These photographs were taken by French Photographer Philippe Guillot during his trip to Poland.

Photo #42 shows Świnoujście city ferry nicknamed “Czajnik”/Kettle (steam powered, thus nick) and partially visible behind – “Fafik”. Red truck on the right is Star-20 and blue on the Czajnik’s board – Żuk truck.
Some photos are mislabelled and 1 is from Czechoslovakia while being labelled from Warsaw.
