These beautiful photographs of Russia’s ruling Romanovs were taken at the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg in 1903. The Romanov family was the last imperial dynasty to rule Russia. They first came to power in 1613, and over the next three centuries, 18 Romanovs ruled Russia. During the Russian Revolution of 1917, Bolshevik led by Vladimir Lenin executed the ex-Emperor and his family. The remains of the family were discovered in a mass grave in the Ural Mountains in 1991.
