I’m 80 years old and think I can remember Bentleys, my Dad was very good friends with Maggie Chambers, Fish Monger . Dad had his Butcher shop was at 868 Danforth Ave, north side at Selkirk in the 30’s . We lived at 75 Eaton Ave on into the early 50’s. I went to Wilkinson Public School . Still call that area home
Bentley’s Duckworth, Penrose, etc. All good BUT the best I have had is BOUNTY fish and chips in Orillia. I have tried out pretty well every place in Ontario since the 50s and this place is it…HANDS DOWN! Don’t tell me try so and so until you try Bount…and then tell me! And for today’s prices? Google them…And YES I am near Wasaga and DO drive up every month to Orillia JUST to get em…
When I was a kid living near the junction of Yonge Street and Yonge Boulevard I think there was a Bentley’s F&C on the east side of Yonge at Teddington Park…
A Friday ritual…
That may be the old Danforth Hotel on the right side of the picture at the far end of the stores.
