Love fish & chips. Pass me the salt and vinegar, please.
Eglinton and Heddington (near the corner and a bank, I think) was the one we went to. Loved the vinegar and salt on the fries wrapped in newspaper. No ketchup.
Every neighborhood has a fish and chip shop (of 2 or 3). Today, you have to look hard to find one and the price of halibut makes it a fine dining experience. I liked Don’s at Yonge and Churchill Ave back in the 60s (near where I worked) and the one (the name of which I forget) beside Oakridge PS on the Danforth, in the neighborhood where I grew up.
My folks had a Fish & Chip Shop at Springdale and Kingston Rd back in the dAy. When they closed the business, they relocated the fryers to our basement where we could seat about twenty at the table. It was Grand…. best fish&chips I ever had, even better than Whitby, East Yorkshire !
Is it my imagination or were fish ‘n chips better in the old days. Grandparents gave me $5 to get dinner from the fish ‘n chip shop on Eglinton at Heddington
