Victoria Park and where?
there used to be an actual park south of Queen St but it’s gone now
Wow, lucky kids! this sure beats the crappy piece of carpet we were given to lay on at nap time. (70’s, public school, N.S.)
I think these schools were for the children of the truly destitute who had TB. They stayed outside even if it was freezing and raining. The doctors of the day believed that fresh air killed the TB bacteria so these kids were not allowed inside a building.
yes, seems so. I read the article posted by someone and it offered a good explanation. Still, I wish all kids had access…structured and comfy naps could change the world. 😴
Never knew this existed. I read this article, & it’s a very interesting concept. They even included naps in their schedule. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
Natures medicine has always been miraculous. I understand there are many reasons this happen I just appreciate the fact that we used natured instead of drugs.
There were no drugs for TB treatment until the 1950s. Treatment was outdoor rest and fresh food. Ergo the popularity of large solariums in many hospitals and TB Sans.
This is really interesting! I love hearing and seeing all of our history of Toronto !
