The evil smells came from the horse rendering plants which fed tallow to the soapworks‼️
I used to sell newspapers in the lobby of the Colgate building on Carlaw Avenue when I was a kid in the early sixties.. The Star, the Tely and the Globe and Mail. Played road hockey in the parking lot.
