By the 1960s Toronto was growing and a new subway line was planned. Land on the southwest side of the baths was needed for the subway construction so the pools closed in 1962.
Yes, My father had an Art Studio on Bloor/Quebec Ave and I remember the two pools directly behind his store and Tildents was next door.

My older sisters used to take me there and ice cream after on Bloor St,
did you go to the maypole ice cream.
So was that a real hot mineral springs—sulphur smelling and all—or was that just a spring they heated etc. Too bad still not going!!
Would the baths have been close to Grenadier pond?
Those two pools stretching from Quebec Ave to High Park Ave were directly behind a stretch of five stores with apts above, Tildens, IGA, Low rise apts all located on Bloor St across from High Park.
The Grenadier pond is located in the park Southwest and the pools were northwest, just across from the park behind the buildings I mentioned above.
