Barbara also participated in two beauty pageants, where she was crowned ‘Miss San Francisco’ in one of them.
Barbara made her debut in Hollywood movies in 1956 with the small role of a college girl in Back from Eternity. And after a year, she was offered to work in “How to Marry a Millionaire,” which was a television adaptation of a movie by the same name. In 1965, legendary writer Sidney Sheldon offered her the role of ‘Jeannie’ in his sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie.” This series had an unbeaten run for five years and became her identity. Barbara Eden has starred in more than 20 movies and TV series. In 1967 she released an album titled “Miss Barbara Eden” under Dot Records. Barbara has also been featured in TV commercials for Old Navy and AT&T. Barbara Eden remains active in TV and movies; in 2009, she starred in “Always and Forever.”
Barbara Eden married actor Michael Ansara in 1958, and the couple divorced in 1974. She had difficulty conceiving and experienced problems with both miscarriages and stillborn births during this marriage. In 1977, Barbara married her second husband, Charles Donald, and this marriage lasted for five years and ended in divorce in 1982. She next got married to real estate developer, Jon Trusdale Eicholtz in 1991.
