Municipal governments all over North America put forth great efforts to keep immigrants from climbing into the middle class. Only their own kind would prosper. They forgot that they too were there because of immigration.
I’m sure todays refugees would be thrilled to have this rather than sleeping on the streets.
My place would look like that too, but I have the condo board.
I can imagine how lucky they felt to have a roof over their heads. Where others had only the lane ways, next to the garbage bins.
