I think that in those days lot of people lived in poverty only a minority lived comfortably. poor people had jobs that paid them almost nothing that’s why they lived in miserable conditions
My Father grew up in this area in the 1930s. The stories he told of rats, insects, the stench of dead animals and sewage. The drunkenness and violence. No thanks!
