OMG, this completely changed my point-of-view about selfie. I didn’t know selfies were that old.
They are not selfies
Technically, the are.
This is Pando Damianoff and his family, his wife Gena, children Hope, Dan, and Chris, in the late 1920s at Pando’s Restaurant. Gena and Pando were Greeks who naturalized in 1922. Pando opened Sunnyside Lunch at 1562 Queen West in the early 1930s. Stanley (Stoyan) Geleffs restaurant opened in 1932. Geleffs were Macedonians. In 1933, Stanley renamed it Pacific Railway Lunch and in 1934 it became CPR Lunch. Stanley and his wife Rose had four children, Thelma, Victoria, Thomas, and Bruce. I was curious to see what was on the menu. I’ll try to find a 1930s working class restaurant menu
hah, the little tuft of green growth beside the stairs is still there.
Was this where Jumbo Burger is now?
Is that place any good? It looks busy around lunch time when I bike past it frequently, but it’s just far enough from home that I don’t want to carry it, but too close to justify stopping.
Yeah. Its a good classic burger diner. Fresh beef patties. Fresh cut fries.
Burgers as wide as your head.
