I suspect it had more to do with heavy winters — which we don’t get anymore because it’s warming up — and the loss of marshland habitat to economic development, which removed nature’s own sponge system for absorbing excess water. That’s my opinion.

They always warn people of the flooding dangers of the Don. Embankments have been erected but you can’t hold back water. About 10 years ago the GO train was stuck and they brought boats snd canoes go get passengers off the trains.
