Opening ceremony, the Crystal Palace, London, 1851-1854.

Huge crowds at the opening ceremony of the Crystal Palace, either at Hyde Park in 1851, or at Sydenham where the building was re-erected in 1854. The Crystal Palace was built to house the ‘Great Exhibition of the Works of the Industry of all Nations’.
