Painted all the green trim with Dad in the sixties, I was told this building was built in 1832
At one time it was the tallest building in Toronto!
used for wedding parties aswell now.
You must have known my husband George . He worked there for 25 yrs. He also did the watchman thing at night.
Used for movie shoots, I worked down there doing watchman stuff for a few movies and tv shows.
Good to know that the Distillery District was revived and repurposed.
My daughter worked on a film at Gooderham and Worts years ago and was left to clean up a location around an open manhole cover, covered by cardboard. Picked up some set dressing, stepped on the cardboard and went down the opening but was fortunately prevented from serious injury or death by open elbows. This was her great, great , great grandfather’s business, established 1832.
My Dad worked there from after WWll to the mid sixties when he was transferred to Halifax to manage Hiram Walker-Gooderham Worts (Maritime manager) until he retired in the mid 1980’s. A fine career, a fine gentleman!
