The person who designed the Bloor viaduct is one of the few in Toronto with brains when it came to transit. He designed the structure with openings in the pylons knowing that a future subway crossing the valley was a probability. He was right. His foresight saved millions of dollars when the Bloor/Danforth subway was finally built.

1910 was a big decade. Toronto commenced this Herculean effort and broke ground on Union Station. unimaginable costs for today’s short sighted governments

It was finished around the end of WWI when thousands of British emigrants arrived. There was a construction boom north and south of the Danforth.
