I know I used to wade in the pool, it was not a fountain. It had a beautiful mosiac like tile bottom and sides with fish tiles. It didn’t have fencing and kids would wade in it with parents or nannies sitting on the surrounding benches. Sometime in the early 60’s I guess someone decided to fill it in with dirt and plant roses in it. In the late 60’s or early 70’s someone then decided to dig out the dirt and roses and finish the bottom like a regular pool surface, then they installed the cement fountain and put the fencing around it..
I never waded in it, Valerie !!! walked around it many times ….
The rose garden was also a beautiful peaceful place to be.
Many Abraham Lincoln High School graduations took place there, including mine! 1968
Is it still there?
I had my graduation there and when the roses are bloomed it is so beautiful 🌹
