  1. In the 1950’s and 1960’s it was a three-lane highway…with the center lane for passing only, in either direction! You just turned on yor headlights and pulled into the center lane to pass the car ahead of you…when you thought it was safe, of course 😉
    Those trees always had big scars on them from car crashes.

  2. It wasn’t that long ago (up until the early ‘80’s) when traveling north on 101, you’d have to exit at Cochran Rd, make a left, go about 1/2 mile to 101 (Monterey Rd).
    In early ‘63, my family going on vacation to San Francisco, had just made a right onto Monterey Road, when a car crossed over the centerline and crashed into our Chevy Nova…I’m told we spun several times, glass everywhere, fortunately no one was seriously hurt…I about 6 months old!
