America’s cities were once home to remarkable buildings and landmarks that defined their communities and reflected the values of their time. From grand train stations and towering hotels to historic courthouses and theaters, these structures stood as symbols of American culture and ambition. Over the decades, many of them were torn down to make way for new development, parking lots, and modern buildings. Below is a collection of iconic American landmarks that no longer exist.

Pittsburgh really lost a lot
The Wabash Bridge in Pittsburgh looked a lot like the Queensboro Bridge in NYC.
Not surprised to see Penn Station here. The only great thing about its loss is that it kicked off the New York Historic Preservation movement so that we still have a bunch of these old, gorgeous buildings.
There are so many historic forts that I wish survived into the modern day.
Like all of those the Confederates attacked before Sumter, that most everyone has forgotten about from the War of Southern Aggression.
