Fascinating Vivid Photos of Norway in 1954

The 1950s in Norway was the era of growth and development as the country emerged from five years of German occupation. Essential commodities were still rationed, and Norwegian homes lacked new washing machines and other appliances.

In Oslo, for example, a severe housing shortage caused many couples to delay marriage and others to share accommodation. Outdoor toilets were standard in rural areas, and few houses had running water or modern bathrooms.
