  1. My lifelong affair with Chinese food began here.
    After church, Blue Star was the next stop for us on many Sundays.
    They had some “kids” plates, but I always got something exotic: moo goo gai pan, almond gai ding, egg foo yung.
    Not spicy, but a wonderful introduction.
    Later on, one of my sisters waited tables there as a teen.
    Her stories of the constant inter-ethnic “discussions” in the kitchen were hilarious….
